Behind the Design

Single cover design I did for the Rhythm Natives’ single “Make Up Your Mind.” I used a textured stock and added transparent squares and rectangles. I had them overlap and aligned, giving off that patchy, worn look.
The reasoning behind the design elements were to convey the message of indecisiveness &Hidden conflict within the song. The rusting and texture of the background symbolizes the eroding and fading relationships mentioned in the song. The transparent shapes represent one of two things: 1) The failed attempts at hiding, or covering up the stains of the rust/textures, or 2) The various inner thoughts &Conflicts that overlap each other causing the image to look somewhat chaotic.
The color scheme is light and easy on the eyes, but faded to show that these colors were once bright and vibrant. Rather than going with a large bold font, I used a thin font to be consistent the transparencies and the faded colors. I purposely kerned the letters farther apart to allude to the song (haha!).
