1 of 4 finals in my Typography class. “Design your own font!” The professor says. &So, I did.
The font is called “Velours.” It was inspired by my good friend Jack’s work &I’m currently working on a logo for her web comic that’s going around.
I have like 10 more letters to do &I’m ready to slam my head against the table.
As fun as I’m having with this, I can’t wait for it to be over. Haha!
Wow, I finally get to update! This is a part assignment from my Design 1 class. We had to take an African animal and simplify it for a logo.
I started off with a few roughs of basic animals: giraffe, elephant, rhino, hare, even a chicken. Being the logos had to be “simple” my sketches turned out more cute than serious compared to my classmates.
After getting it approved, I vectorized my sketch of the elephant &Went through probably 10+ different variations of typography before settling with this one. I also had my try with a color sheet &Will have to post that another time.
People have wondered why I chose the word “Oliphant” instead of “Elephant” &It’s because of my Lord of the Rings addiction. &Also too, I love how it’s said with the accent. It’s a fun, friendly and unique word. Especially for a publishing company, I thought.
Finally! Work not from Typography!
This was a Digital Imaging assignment. I was to digitally paint a portrait inspired by a favorite artist. I took my two loves and combined them in this painting of the TARDIS arriving/departing. I had a lot of fun with this and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I used Photosop &My Wacom tablet.
My type anatomy poster I had to do for Typography. We were given a list of terms and told to make an educational poster out of it. I went through maybe 10 roughs before I settled on this. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I like how it gives off the “Chemistry” vibe.
More typography stuff! This time we played around with adding French curves to letters &Playing with the Appearance Pallet. &I just realized, but I used Q again. It’s okay, Q needs more love.
IT’S FINISHED!
Here are my compositions for my letterpress assignment for Typography (again). I only needed four, so the first one is a personal one. Here we played with color and transparency &Tried to make something similar to what a letterpress would do.
We have to print one out for critique but I’m not really sure which one i want to print…
My first typography project EVER &It was to make a collage expressing any emotion using only type (Feel free to interpret it anyway you want, haha!). At first I didn’t think I’d like the project, but in the end I was pretty satisfied.
I was amazed at how bad the kerning was in some of the typography in the magazine I was using. It was horrible.
I started this project around….9? &Finished around 12:50. I’m never like this with clients but with homework, procrastination is fun &I like working under pressure. This isn’t due till Thursday anyway…
After the form &Counterform assignment we were to take the composition we made and break them up into a new composition, this time utilizing colors but mostly transparency.
These are just two compositions I made so far. These were made in Illustrator (CS5) &Watermarked/Resized in Photoshop (CS5).
Form &Counterform exercise we had to do for Typography. We had to remove as much of the letter as we could and focus more on the shapes that were being made with the negative and positive space. This was all done in Illustrator (CS5).
I ended up using only the letter Q for some reason…
My first class assignment in my Image Editing class. We started off with the basics in Photoshop &Used the brush tool. “Paint something with a pirate!” Our instructor said. So being already accustomed to the brush tool I doodled this little guy.
